State of Nebraska to Deploy Cornerstone OnDemand’s Integrated Talent Management Suite to 18,000 Employees

The State invests in Cornerstone’s comprehensive SaaS solution to automate learning and HR processes and ensure consistency across 80 state-wide agencies

Santa Monica, Calif., April 14, 2010 Cornerstone OnDemand Inc. today announced that the State of Nebraska is deploying Cornerstone’s integrated, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-based talent management suite to enable a holistic, cost-effective approach to workforce management for 18,000 government workers spanning 80 state-wide agencies. The comprehensive solution – including platforms for learning management, employee performance management, succession planning, compensation and professional social networking – will help the State track employee information through the typical workforce lifecycle, from employee hire to retirement.

“Using this comprehensive talent management software will make it easier to implement effective practices that streamline and automate redundant, time-intensive training and HR activities,” said Cindy DeCoster, LMS Lead for the State of Nebraska’s Personnel Division. “An integrated talent system also will give us unparalleled visibility into our workforce, which will help us to make more informed decisions about training and leadership development. Finally, because Cornerstone’s solution is SaaS-based, we’re able to avoid the added costs of purchasing hardware, IT and version upgrades.”

To meet the State’s unique human resources needs, Cornerstone is collaborating with NEOGOV to integrate applicant tracking as part of State’s comprehensive talent management solution. NEOGOV’s SaaS-based solution will allow personnel and HR managers to view, track and maintain job applicant information in a convenient and centralized place while connecting agencies through a Web-based hiring center. NEOGOV also will provide online onboarding services for newly hired State employees.

The State of Nebraska’s investment in Cornerstone’s secure, on-demand software creates an opportunity for the State to shift its operational culture to a more unified system with consistent HR processes used across state agencies, instead of the traditional silos seen in large organizations. The State sought an affordable software solution to automate, coordinate and manage both centralized and decentralized talent management functions, most of which have been tracked and reported manually, such as compliance management, performance reviews and new employee orientation. And with more employees approaching retirement, the State also needed a system that could help capture and retain the valuable knowledge of long-time employees.

The State chose Cornerstone’s software because, in collaboration with NEOGOV, Cornerstone was able to offer a more complete talent management solution versus other vendors, as well as easier, more robust reporting. Additionally, as a SaaS solution, Cornerstone’s software could be implemented more quickly than an on-premise solution, and the lower total cost of ownership ensured the project stayed within the State’s budget.

Nebraska’s current enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, JD Edwards Enterprise One, will continue to be used to maintain core state employee data. However, HR-related processes will be better served through the new Cornerstone OnDemand and NEOGOV partnership.

The State’s team plans to roll out Cornerstone’s software in a phased approach over the next two years. The initial phase, to go live this summer, will address learning management and E-Verify employment verification. Mandated since October 1, 2009, Nebraska state and local agencies, as well as contractors, are required to check whether new hires are eligible to work in the U.S. and to verify an employee’s legal status before receiving public benefits. Cornerstone’s software will automate the verification and reporting processes.
