Save the Children Improves Employee Engagement Using Cornerstone OnDemand’s Software

Cornerstone’s comprehensive talent management solution allows the global non-profit to better enable its people and further its mission to create lasting change for children in need


SANTA MONICA, Calif. – February 2, 2011  Cornerstone OnDemand announced today that global non-profit Save the Children is using Cornerstone’s comprehensive talent management software solution to better engage its employees – and, in turn, further its mission of achieving breakthroughs in how the world treats children.  Automating key workforce management processes for learning management, employee performance management and onboarding has helped Save the Children ensure that its people have the right skills and competencies to drive organizational objectives, as well as be more proactive in identifying and developing future leaders. 


Recognized for its commitment to accountability, innovation and collaboration, Save the Children strives to achieve immediate and lasting change in children’s lives through lifesaving interventions in health, education, protection and emergency response.  The organization saw an opportunity to empower employees to succeed in their roles by taking a more integrated approach to managing and developing its 5,200 team members, who work in impoverished communities in the U.S. and around the world.

Save the Children, which works closely with the Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation, recently received additional software licenses that enabled the non-profit to provide critical training to team members stationed in Pakistan.  Severe flooding has affected nearly 18 million people in the region, including at least 10 million children who are increasingly vulnerable to malnutrition, life-threatening diseases and plummeting winter temperatures.   


“Because we had the capability to quickly train 1,000 local staffers, we have been able to help more than 2.6 million flood affected people in Pakistan, providing much needed emergency medical care, hygiene kits, food and shelter materials,” said Birtwell. 


Prior to using Cornerstone OnDemand’s talent management software, many of Save the Children’s processes for leadership development, performance reviews and training were manual and paper-based.  Automating these processes has allowed the organization to be more efficient and effective in engaging its geographically dispersed team.  Since deploying the system in 2009, Save the Children has seen a positive impact across the organization, such as:
