When Beca was looking to kick-off their annual graduate recruitment drive, they saw this as the perfect time to investigate alternative suppliers. “We were really keen to find a system that gave our hiring managers team more control over the recruitment process, and visibility on how they were tracking with candidates and applications,” said Sue.
In considering new suppliers, Beca looked at what their overall strategy was and the tools that would help this roadmap. “A key factor was being able to have one single point of integration for our existing systems, which would be much simpler than managing separate platforms,” said Bernard Hunwick, Group People and Culture Systems Manager at Beca.
Beca had already successfully implemented the Cornerstone learning and performance modules, so adding in recruitment and onboarding was an easy process. “We were looking for a slick, agile system that was cutting-edge. We were attracted to how new the Cornerstone platform was, and how user friendly it was,” said Sue.
Achieved highly successful ANZ graduate recruitment campaign. Via Cornerstone, Beca completed their ANZ graduate recruitment campaign and hired 119 graduates from over 1,500 applications. The online offer tool improved efficiencies greatly and provided a much better experience for candidates and hiring managers alike. “The graduates campaign has been our best launch,” said Sue.
Created a positive candidate led recruitment process. Candidate care was able to be made the number one priority in the hiring process, with previous admin tasks eliminated. “A lot of the candidates we hire are from all over the world, and there can be quite a lag from the time they take the offer to when they actually step in the door. This can sometimes be three months or longer, so having the ability to keep connected is crucial, as there is a high risk of fall-off." Cornerstone Recruiting allowed hiring managers to stay constantly engaged with candidates throughout the process, and the graduate feedback has been uniformly positive, with feedback including: "This has been the best graduate campaign I've been involved in."
Replaced an inaccessible system and re-engaged hiring managers. Hiring manager buy-in of Cornerstone was crucial, as they had reverted to manual systems as a way of avoiding Beca's existing platform. "The Hiring Managers are using the new system with ease, setting up their own requisitions and managing candidates through the recruitment workflow. They can also access interview guides and rate candidates after interview," said Sue. Adoption of Cornerstone also means hiring managers can now leverage internal talent better and provide greater career mobility within Beca.
Increased employee adoption of learning and development tools. The positive experiences and feedback from the Cornerstone recruitment platform has in turn created increased employee adoption of the learning platform which Beca had previously implemented. "The implementation of recruitment has definitely also helped the adoption of the learning platform," said Sue.
