Announcing the 2021 RAVE Awards winners

Connie Costigan

Vice President, Customer Experience at Cornerstone OnDemand

Every year we have the opportunity to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of our global customer community through the annual Cornerstone RAVE Awards.

Standing for Remarkable Achievements and Visionary Elites, the RAVE awards honor and recognize customers who have applied innovative approaches in using Cornerstone solutions to create engaging people experiences that span recruiting and onboarding, learning and development, performance and career growth, and content adoption.

From boosting remote learning efforts to finding new ways to involve employees more directly in their own development, these organizations have worked through pandemic-related challenges, periods of rapid business transformation and changing work environments to facilitate opportunities for growth and embrace a purpose-driven culture ready to face whatever the future might bring.

The 2021 RAVE recipients were announced at our recent virtual customer conference Cornerstone Convergence, and it’s an honor to share a bit about what sets these talent strategies apart.

People Experience

Winners: Dick’s Sporting Goods, DPDHL and Generali

This award category recognizes organizations that leveraged innovative strategies during challenging, quickly-changing times. By extending the capabilities of Cornerstone and looking at each facet of the workplace experience through the eyes of their people, these winners created a meaningful, end-to-end people experience.

Dick’s Sporting Goods

After needing to furlough 80% of its 50,000 employees at the start of the pandemic, Dick's Sporting Goods looked for the best ways to improve user experience and training processes when they could safely bring employees back to work. From leveraging learning content in Cornerstone Cares to help employees manage stress to starting a weekly newsletter to communicate corporate updates, to offering a compensation incentive for returning employees, the teammate experience was top of mind for every decision.

“We realized we needed to re-engage the workforce to update them on where we stood as a company, but also help to maintain the company culture and ensure comfort about returning to work when it was time. We’ve now reopened every single store that was closed, plus opened 11 new stores,” says Dick Sportings Good’s Stacie Sebek.

Deutsche Post DHL Group (DPDHL)

As a leading logistics company, Deutsche Post DHL Group (DPDHL) turned to Cornerstone to help meet a strategic goal of aligning skills with future challenges for the business. Using AI technology helped DPDHL pinpoint transferable skills for workers to choose personalized, non-linear growth paths and identify skills gaps — helping workers map their future with the organization, and helping the DPDHL uncover tomorrow’s skills.

Generali

Generali needed a way to pivot its people development program during lockdown restrictions, with 75,000 employees in more than 60 countries. The LEARN platform, powered by Cornerstone, helped make learning accessible, engaging and personalized. The first six months of the program alone saw 21,000 monthly unique logins as employees used the system to expand their skills. Generali was able to close skills gaps and diversify its content to help future proof people skills: More than 200 new skills courses were added and 60 new skills identified.

Recruiting and Onboarding Experience

Winners: Bozzuto and Banco Bradesco Group

This award category honors organizations that developed a candidate recruitment or onboarding experience that set their organization apart and delivered on their objectives.

Bozzuto

Like many organizations, the diversified real estate company faced cuts during the pandemic, shifting recruiting and interviewing responsibilities to hiring managers. Bozzuto made sure all hiring managers received unconscious bias training, decoded their internal language and reviewed job descriptions for DEI representation. Cornerstone Connect helped build collaboration cohorts to assist with creating a real sense of belonging for new team members.

Banco Bradesco Group

Banco Bradesco Group used Cornerstone to collect hiring documents for thousands of daily applicants and hundreds of internal job postings. It was critical to keep hiring moving swiftly, while ensuring candidate safety throughout the COVID-19 pandemic by facilitating remote interactions. Cornerstone’s onboarding solution then helped organize tasks and courses for new employees, including mandatory training.

“We use Cornerstone as a career and development hub. We have very positive feedback from hiring managers, who can now track the progress of the processes and build a culture of internal growth opportunities,” says Marcos Mauricio Ferro Ferreira of Banco Bradesco.

Learning and Development Experience

Winners: Baxter Healthcare, bioMérieux and SWIFT

Winners in this award category made fundamental or innovative changes to their learning and development approach that had a significant impact on both learners and the organization.

Baxter Healthcare

Baxter also rolled out The Digital Learning Adventure (DLA), built on Cornerstone with customized course paths, to help upskill employees around the organization’s digital transformation objectives.

“The DLA was very well received, and we are close to our goal of having 95% of Baxter’s employees complete at least one path in their journey,” says Baxter’s Manoj Parthasarathy.

bioMérieux

bioMérieux’s Immersive Learning project has been rethinking and rebuilding the entire learner experience to create a “wow” effect for their employees using Cornerstone. With a completely redesigned employee learning experience serving as an entry to Cornerstone’s learning portal, bioMérieux has implemented playlists to promote Cornerstone Content Anytime and facilitate self-driven learning.

“We have activated the entire Learner Experience Platform, powered by Cornerstone Content Anytime and bioMerieux’s own content,“ says Johanna Henry of bioMérieux. “It was a remarkable effort in team collaboration and design to create a personalized, engaging and coherent experience for the learner.”

SWIFT

SWIFT’s digital and interactive learning tool, SWIFTSmart, has reduced cost, increased efficiency and enhanced onboarding by providing engaging training through a personalized learning portal. Powered by Saba Cloud’s Extended Enterprise solution, now part of Cornerstones portfolio, SWIFTSmart reduces the time to complete courses by 75%. More than 80,000 users have completed over 340,000 courses on SWIFTSmart, with an overall online course rating of 4.2/5.

Performance and Career Growth Strategy

Winners: Interfor and Spirax-Watson Marlow

This award category recognizes organizations that have seen tremendous success in advancing a strong performance and career growth culture in their company, helping to build an environment where employees can develop and grow.

Interfor

With a focus on goal setting, monitoring personal development and internal mobility, Interfor instituted several Cornerstone tools with an eye toward tracking personal growth, skill-building and developing future leaders. Career Development Plans, Talent Review and Development Plans have helped Interfor involve employees more directly in the development planning process while allowing managers to fill key positions and identify potential succession gaps.

Spirax-Watson Marlow

Cornerstone provided Spirax-Watson Marlow the ability for customers to securely view their own personal employment data and dynamically update the system themselves through self-service forms. The forms not only provided solutions to people-based process issues, but they also linked with other key business processes such as talent acquisition, goal management, compliance and workforce planning.

The Cornerstone suite has been perfect for us in its simplicity and flexibility to support our business today, but also to evolve with us. The impact to our business has been monumental because it was so visible and accessible to each of our colleagues,” says Ian Hambly of Watson Marlow

Content Adoption Strategy

Winners: Wells Fargo and Eisai

This award category recognizes organizations that have seen significant adoption of Cornerstone Content Anytime that changed or supported their organization's learning and development strategy.

Wells Fargo

When COVID hit, Wells Fargo saw a move to remote learning that corresponded with people moving away from office spaces. Due to the wide array of curated content the organization had available in Cornerstone Content Anytime, Wells Fargo saw a 100% increase in registrations, as well as growth in returning learners. Around 73% of all training is self-directed, as learners continue to develop in change management, virtual team leadership and agile mindset adoption.

“We are really pleased with our results,” says Shawn Lewis, CLO at Wells Fargo. “Our partnership with Cornerstone is what helped make these results possible.”

Eisai

The pandemic was a catalyst for Eisai to re-think its learning strategy and goals. Eisai adopted Cornerstone Content Anytime to provide a broader range of online courses and satisfy the learning curiosity their employees were showing — using Cornerstone playlists to communicate key information like how to work from home or manage stress. This year Eisai also added Development Plans, directly linking content to their motivational behaviors, to provide structure and assist people managers and employees with having meaningful development discussions while working remotely.
