Office Hours: Concerned About Job Security? Focus on Your CORE Skills

Cornerstone Editors

Workers around the world are worried about losing their jobs to automation. And it’s easy to understand why. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, 14 percent of roles in advanced economies could become obsolete, thanks to automation. However, some job functions may never be automated. For instance, tasks that require soft skills, like creativity and emotional intelligence, are better done by humans.

Ira Wolfe, the president of Success Performance Solutions, has a word for these skills: CORE. According to Wolfe, future members of the workforce must demonstrate uniquely human skills, like curiosity, communication, creativity, compassion, originality, responsibility and empathy. "By building on those skills, you will build a solid future," says Wolfe. In this video, he explains his acronym in detail.
