How a Learning Experience Platform (LXP) improves L&D

In a world of ceaseless technological advancement and an ever-shrinking half-life of applicable skills, training and learning on the job are critical to both employee and company success.

But with short attention spans and busy days that leave little time in workers' schedules for learning, how can companies provide learning and development opportunities in a way that engages employees without wasting their time? And how can organizations gather data from learning engagements that can help improve operations and performance? Problem 1: Lack of adoption and engagement

Problem 2: Limited content

Many LMS products are closed systems with limited sources of content. In contrast, an LXP is designed to incorporate content from many apps and sources, inside and outside the company. For example, workers needing a quick tutorial or question answered could check a company manual. But they might prefer information from a trusted website instead.

An LXP allows users to consolidate different resources in one dashboard, making the information easier to find and workers more inclined to seek answers within your system—instead of unvetted sources, which may be outdated or have the wrong information. The result? Employees will interact with content and apps within the LXP more often, and be encouraged to keep learning.

Problem 3: Incomplete data and insights

With employees accessing all of their learning through one central dashboard, a learning experience platform enables HR professionals to have a more holistic and accurate view of employee development. LXPs generate much richer and more usable data on employee progress—such as skills gaps they have closed or mentoring apps they have used—and can tap into historical data for analysis. HR teams can use the data collected by an LXP to gauge aptitudes, measure engagement and provide compliance support.
