Investing in the skills of employees in 2023
Skills are a critical resource for organisations that are increasingly investing in training their talent. Cornerstone OnDemand offers several learning and talent management solutions. Vincent Belliveau, Chief International Officer, tells us more.
What services does Cornerstone OnDemand's platform/offering provide?
Cornerstone is a SaaS provider of learning and talent management, performance management, recruiting, and employee experience solutions. We provide value-added content to help people find the right training to get the skills they need today and in the future. We have 7,000 customers worldwide, with over 100 million users.
Why is the talent shortage a major issue for companies today?
Identifying talent within a group is a very high priority. There has been a real upheaval with the pandemic, but also with the acceleration of technology, which means that the skills that people had yesterday are not necessarily those that will be expected today and tomorrow. Finding people with the necessary skills is becoming very difficult. This is a real brake on the success and growth of companies.
Why is training an important pillar of the world of work?
We have launched a global study that shows that companies with the highest performance levels - including the highest profitability, lowest employee turnover and best customer feedback - invest more in the development of their employees, which is felt by their employees. This shows that all companies should therefore invest in this area.
How has the pandemic accelerated the digital transformation of HR?
The pandemic has pushed companies to rethink their processes and their communication with their customers, but also with their own employees. Human resources had to evolve rapidly, which led to an acceleration of the digital transformation of our clients. I encourage companies to always think from two angles: that of the company that needs skills, will train its employees on them, and manage their careers in line with its strategic challenges. But there is also the employee's perspective, who needs certain skills to perform and to have a personalised career plan. Cornerstone technology allows HR and business leaders to analyse the skills of individual employees, and to have a view of the skills of the entire organisation, so they can offer training that is aligned with their career aspirations and the organisation's strategic objectives.
Training content offerings are another important component in supporting skills development and digital transformation. Our Cornerstone Content Anytime solution allows each employee to find the right training format and topic for their personal needs. Our powerful platform makes expert recommendations based on the individual's skills and aspirations using artificial intelligence. Ultimately, skills are the common link between HR systems and individuals. With the challenges organisations face (skills shortages, great resignation, and recently quiet quitting), they need to invest in skills development more than ever. It is this commitment that will accelerate growth, agility, and success for all for a more manageable future of work.
