Whether storing family photos or company power point presentations, people are increasingly relying on the cloud to hold their digital documents, yet many companies are still hesitant to adopt the technology at work — especially in the HR space.
Some are resistant to the cloud regardless of the third-party application because they fear putting company data in someone else's hands — and the potential security slip-ups it could cause. Mark Goldin, chief technology officer at Cornerstone OnDemand, says his company tackles those fears by making data security a top priority.
From a data and security perspective, there are a handful of things that Cornerstone does to keep customers happy:
- Upgrading isn't an option — it's a requirement (and it’s not a big deal) — because it's impossible to provide top-notch support with clients using different versions.
- The company's portal is configurable because your business is different than everyone else's. "All of our clients look different and work differently because of the powerful configuration tools in the application," says Goldin.
- Clients receive support when integrating other products with the cloud — from planning and executing to sharing best practices and helping through upgrades.
With data in the cloud, top executives can make better decisions about training, recruiting and compensation because they're armed with the right insights. There's much room for improvement, though, and it starts with trusting the cloud's data security.
