Our 13th annual conference, Cornerstone Convergence, kicked off yesterday with a question from CEO and founder Adam Miller that would guide conversations for the rest the day: "How can you reach your full potential—and help others reach theirs?"
The answer lies in empowering your people. And this starts with learning about the latest innovations, tools and trends in talent management: from collaborative learning to predictive analytics to mobile-friendly apps and more.

Democratizing Technology for HR
One of the biggest points of conversation was Cornerstone Edge, a new Platform-as-a-Service (Paas) solution that allows businesses to extend the Cornerstone solution in myriad ways using open APIs and drag-and-drop development tools. The news sparked musings and excitement about the opportunity for HR departments to develop custom apps and unlock the potential of the technology without coding skills.

Predicting the Future with Data
Another hot topic in the HR world is predictive analytics: using historical data to predict future workforce trends. We also announced Cornerstone Insights yesterday, a predictive analytics tool, and several partners and clients shared how they're already mining data insights to improve recruitment, performance, retention and compensation.

Creating a Culture of Learning
Learning took center stage on the first day of Convergence. As Nestlé Chief Learning Officer Fausto Palumbo told Miller during the morning's keynote address, learning leaders must create "laboratories of innovation" that consistently evolve to meet the needs of today's hyper-connected workforce. Other sessions showed how to do this through tapping into user-generated content, fostering collaboration and enabling mobile.

Turning Up the Beat
Last but not least, what's innovation without a little fun? We ended the first day with a performance from four-time Grammy Award winner Lenny Kravitz at our Client and Partner Appreciation Party. And yes, attire was appropriately listed as "rocker chic".
